Comments from Justice
Chaplaincies' Volunteers
From Jim Bennett, worship team
leader - Northminster Presbyterian
"Prison ministry is a very positive thing in my life. It has
heightened my spiritual life - through preparing, leading and
participating in jail worship services. It is a fascinating experience. I
receive a whole lot more than I give. We leave the church together,
praying that the Holy Spirit will lead us, and lead the words that come
from our mouths. The interactive Bible study and small group sessions have
taught me to be a better listener and to be sensitive to other people's
position and concerns. I have a very special sensation about being in this
jail ministry. I know the Lord has called me here."
From Diane Garrett, worship team
leader - St. Paul AME Zion Church
"It (Sunday) was a beautiful spiritual event - we all were
blessed. Continue to allow us to come among the inmates with our ministry
in word and song, for it is a privilege to share with them the glory of
our God and Savior. It is truly a blessing to serve the Lord."
From Michael A. Johnson, worship
team leader - Harvest Fellowship
"The third Sunday of June we went to Queens Gate. There were
three of us in the worship team and there were 15 inmates. We were
delighted by the turn out and again they were delighted in the handouts
especially the consolidated version of Gods' Yellow Pages that you sent by
e-mail. We prayed for salvation for 4 inmates and prayed separate prayers
for at least 5 more. Everyone was particularly refreshed and we were
honored to be there. There was one inmate that appeared to sing at the top
of his lungs and was a delight. The comment of one of the guards I think
summed up the day. He stated, 'It is always better with God in the
house.'"
