The Game of Real Life™
A Simulation Activity

This simulation activity can be played anywhere - Greater Cincinnati and beyond.

The Game of Real Life means facing difficult issues

Objective: To provide preteens and teens an opportunity of a safe environment in which they can explore the serious consequences of poor life choices such as pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV, substance abuse, runaways, school bullies, school violence, and encounters with police.
Description: Using make-believe scenarios to make a point about life and death, the Game explores a variety of subjects. Volunteer police stress proper behavior options when stopped by the police. With the help of 20-30 volunteer community professionals (police officers, social workers, agency representatives, judges, etc.) and volunteer actors, up to 75 youth participate in simulated situations that require them to make on-the-spot decisions and choices. The professionals set up mock locations to provide counseling as though they were actual clients. The Game ends with the youth assembling for group discussion and closure. Sponsors are encouraged to continue Game dynamics with the youth in future sessions. It is designed to be shocking, confrontational and brutally honest, bringing participants face-to-face with real life situations while serving as a "hands-on" memorable, preventative tool.
